Democracy Committee (5 places)

The candidate who receives the highest number of votes gets right of first refusal for the role of Union General Meeting chair and the Returning Officer is also chosen from Democracy Committee.

The Democracy Committee:
• Ensures that LSESU functions in a democratic way, in according with the Constitution
• Agrees dates, rules and regulations pertaining to elections and referenda
• Assists with promoting elections, Union General Meetings and other democratic structures
• Ensures the Students' Union's democratic structures are open and accessible to LSE students
• Attends all Union General Meetings
• Reviews motions to be debated at Union General Meetings s to ensure they work within the Students' Union's bylaws and governing documents
• Attends team meetings and receives support from relevant staff members to ensure they are able to achieve all of the above in their year

AU Engagement Officer

This role is only available to members of the Athletics Union.

The Athletics Union Engagement Officer:

  • Represents all AU club members
  • Works with the Activities and Development Officer and LSESU to develop sport at LSE
  • Encourages a mutually beneficial relationship across LSESU Sport (all AU clubs, Active LifeStylE and Sports Ambassadors)
  • Supports the AU President in engaging the wider LSE Student body through events and campaigns
  • Supports AU Club Captains and Club Execs to ensure their clubs create a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Liaises with the LSESU on all large AU activities and events

Athletics Union Executive (4 places)

This role is only available to members of the Athletics Union.

The AU Executive represents all AU Club Members. They do this by working with the Activities & Development Officer and SU to develop sport at LSE, supporting AU Club Captains and Club Execs, leading on the organisation of AU events and liaising with the SU on all large AU activities and events.

Member of Trustee Board (4 places)

As a member of Trustee Board you will:

  • Ensure that everything LSESU does benefits students
  • Ensure that LSESU remains in good financial shape, including approving the annual budget
  • Ensure that LSESU does not break any laws or regulations
  • Interpret the Constitution, Articles and Byelaws
  • Attend all Trustee Board meetings
  • Read relevant reports and papers prior to meetings
  • Steer the Students' Union's strategic direction
  • Shape the future of the Students' Union by preparing for meetings and working with the Students' Union to implement changes.

In order to be a trustee:

  • You cannot have been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty (unless the conviction is spent) 
  • You cannot have a history of bankruptcy
