Support the Campaign! - Come to next week's UGM to support the Motion!
After a very successful first event, featuring the ardent human rights activist and Director of Liberty, Shami Chakrabarti, students have taken the campaign to the next level.
Open dicussion and debate amongst students at Shami's talk, helped students realise the specific areas of how the campaign should go forward - stressing the importance of international and domestic students uniting and fighting the battle of the new PBIS (Points Based Immigration System) together.
Tens of students signed up to the campaign after a reception (kindly sponsored by the LSE's Alumni Association Department) gave students the opportunity to chat to Shami and other interested students about the PBIS, its issues and ultimately how to take the campaign forward.
With the rest of the students consulted, a UGM (Union General Meeting) motion was put together by the International Officer, Michael Lok and seconded by student Waqas Adenwala - to make Students Not Suspects an official LSESU campaign that must be then be enacted on.
Make sure you come along to next week's UGM (Thursday, 1-2pm, Old Theatre) to support the campaign, ask questions and get involved!
See you there!
