Details
Job Purpose
To support the LSESU Advice Service in providing an efficient service to LSE students and expanding the reach of the service.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic advice and information to students (training will be provided).
- Signpost students to internal and external support services.
- Promotion of the SU Advice Service by informing students of its role and how to access on campus, in Halls of Residence, and on our social media platforms.
- Run social media accounts, post/create advice related content and wider digital engagement.
- Support/potentially lead on research-based projects that analyse the impact of the Advice Service, identifying areas of strength and areas for improvement.
- Engage students in conversations about support and feeding back any suggestions/concerns to the Advice Service.
- Carry out administrative tasks, such as entering student details on our case recording system.
- Help maintain a confidential environment.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Advice Caseworker/Advice Manager
Job Specification
Essential
- You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- You will be highly organised and able to work accurately under time constraints.
- You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- You will be confident to pro-actively approach and engage with other students.
- You will be confident in your IT skills, both in Microsoft Outlook and social media platforms.
- You will be able to deal with sensitive matters in an empathetic manner and have a broad appreciation of the kinds of issues the Advice Service may see.
- You will have experience of approaching difficult and/or sensitive situations in a professional manner.
- You will understand the importance of confidentiality and be able to work within boundaries.
- You will be a genuine team player who is happy to adapt to the demands of the demands of the role.
- You will be a current student at LSE.
Desirable
- Some research skills, whether gained through education or previous employment.
- Social media/content creating experience.
(Note: As we are recruiting two advice assistants, we expect to divide social media and research responsibilities so one advice assistant leads on social media duties and the other leads on more research-based duties. You will be asked at interview which role you would prefer)
