The LSESU Representation Team are looking for an organised and enthusiastic student who is passionate about liberation, representation and democracy. We are hoping to hire someone who is outgoing and approachable to join a fun, energetic team working towards bettering the LSE student experience.

The role includes flexible hours to complement your studies, and provides the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of activities and initiatives, including the LSESU’s BME Mentoring Scheme, SU elections, and policy-making processes. If you’re able to adapt to different tasks, take initiative and communicate with various stakeholders, then this is the job for you!

Who we are

Founded in 1897, LSE Students' Union is one of the oldest Students' Unions in the UK and is the representative and campaigning body for students at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).  Like other Students' Unions, it also funds and facilitates student activities on campus, including societies, sports clubs through the Athletics Union (AU), the Media Group and Raising and Giving (RAG) charitable fundraising initiatives. 

About the job

LSESU’s Representation Team is looking for a highly organised student who is passionate about improving the experiences of LSE students. 

We’re searching for an individual who is outgoing, approachable, and proactive in their approach to work. The successful candidate will support the administration and organisation of key projects and events, and provide support to student-led campaigns and the work of our elected Officers.

This is the ideal opportunity for someone with an ability to work collaboratively with people, a passion for enhancing the student experience and a commitment to advocating for underrepresented communities at LSE.

This role sits within the Representation Team which:

  • Provides support to LSESU’s elected Sabbatical & Part-Time Officers
  • Facilitates the academic representation process at LSE, organises
  • Administers the Union’s democratic processes (including elections)
  • Supports student campaigners
  • Provides policy and research support to the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Friendly, helpful and engaging manner with good interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Strong time management
  • An interest in campaigns and supporting projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in various social media platforms
  • A commitment to equality and diversity
  • An ability to handle politically sensitive situations
  • Good communication skills
  • Good attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Support Representation Team with planning, delivery, and promotion of events, both in person and digital, especially during Welcome Week and Elections, also including the BME Mentoring Scheme and Rep events
  • Assist with the operation of democratic functions, such as Student Panels and Student Town Halls, including helping to facilitate policy deliberation and training Accountability Board members
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of Representation Team events, including elections
  • Support with the drafting, proofreading and fact-checking of internal documents
  • Provide administrative support for the Representation Team, including the typing up of feedback forms and transcribing focus groups
  • Process payments for Student Panellists and Accountability Board members
