Hello! I’m Sophie, a third year Geography with Economics student, and I’m standing to be your Environment and Ethics Officer. 

 

If elected I promise to: 

  • Build a united LSE SU Environmental Hub: Develop a network for environmentalism at LSE by creating a central hub for all environment societies to facilitate meaningful change both on and off-campus. 

 

  • Hold LSE accountable and tackle greenwashing: Lobby for meaningful student representation on LSE Investment panels to champion Divestment. Ensure that LSE leadership is held accountable to delivering on its environmental commitments. 

 

  • Engagement with environmental research, activism, and careers: Create opportunities to engage with environmental research and activism via a programme of speaker events, visits and workshops. Showcase careers in sustainability, environment and policy through networking events. 

 

Why me?

  • Extensive experience in student representation: President of LSESU Geography & Environment Society, experience as Academic and Departmental representative, member of the UK Youth Parliament, member of the British Youth Council Collective for Climate Change. 

  • Working knowledge and connections with the LSE SU and its processes, Sustainable LSE and existing campaigns  

  • Academic background in studying political ecology, environmental social science, and sustainable development
