Hi everyone, I'm Iraz and I'm a final year Politics and Philosophy student running to represent you in the next National Union for Students Conference.
Why I should be your NUS Representative:
- Last year I partook in the Student Panel, which centred around listening to policy proposals that students have made, discussing ideas and promoting these into real policies.
- As News Editor on The Beaver I have constant exposure to LSE and National University wide News. It is my role to research and report on these issues, for instance, my recent article on the change in student loan structure.
Areas which are particularly important for me:
- Strikes: I would like to help create policy that ensures students have a feedback loop, allowing them to demand compensation from the university and protecting their education in the future.
- Cost of Living: With increasing costs to living, students are facing increasingly challenging scenarios and decision-making. Therefore, policy surrounding maximum support and cushioning will also claim a priority position
- Sexual Misconduct: This issue deserves an immense push for effective policy so we can stop letting down students who turn to universities for help.
But most importantly I would work to hear what YOU have to say, issues that matter to YOU, issues that may have been missed and invoke the positive policy change that we all want to see.
