SADIA SHEERAZ

Sadia Sheeraz: Sticking it to LSE Since 2018

For the last three years I have worked to make LSE a more inclusive space, but there is still much to do.

Time

Lobbying for a sustainable work-life balance.

  • Weekends should be protected, as days of rest, when setting deadlines.

  • Consulting with departments to ensure that students are not overwhelmed by workloads and expectations.

  • Pursuing graduation celebrations for 2020/21 graduates.

Mental Health

Access to meaningful support remains low.

  • Lobbying for more counselling sessions.

  • Establishing and supporting community groups for shared experiences, e.g QPoC.

Neurodivergence and Disabilities.

COVID-19 has proven that accessibility is possible

  • All lectures can and should continue to be recorded.

  • The option to exchange participation/presentation requirements with accessible alternatives.

Representation, Rights and Responsibilities.

Pursuing equality and justice.

  • Greater support and resources for estranged students.

  • J4C - our cleaners are part of LSE.

  • Working class visibility, and targeted support.

  • Supporting Black Lives Matter and Decolonise LSE in meaningful ways.

  • Establishing support groups for international students.

  • Zero tolerance of sexual abuse at LSE, with greater implications for harassment at LSESU events e.g Zoo.

  • Encouraging diverse locations for social events, for accessibility.

  • Finding a way to report bullying, harassment and abuse through clear, accessible and sensitive channels.
