Microfinance's Crash Course is back for 20/21!
The Microfinance Crash Course is a 5-week long course that aims to introduce key microfinance concepts, understand its history and origins, and evaluate its growth and progress in today's world. By the end of the course, students interested in microfinance should expect to possess basic knowledge that would equip them well in a deeper discourse about Microfinance and be well-suited to develop and substantiate their own viewpoints regarding the topic.
We have taken in feedback from previous years to revamp the course and make it more relevant and engaging to our students. This year, the Course will be from 4pm - 5pm on Mondays, starting 12 Oct. Mr Sadru Akbarali, our lecturer for the past few years, will return to give lectures across the 5 weeks, which will be followed by an interactive activity conducted by our student facilitator and Microfinance enthusiast, JJ!
Sadru was the former Senior Programme Manager for Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance. He has had over 30 years experience in developing, supervising and advising enterprise development, microfinance and other financial institutions in 21 countries. Through his capable hands, you can be confident of gaining a broad and educated perspective of Microfinance.
The content we will cover is as follows:
- Session 1 - Understanding Microfinance and Financial Inclusion
- Session 2 - Savings, Micro-Insurance and other Financial Products
- Session 3 - Various Forms of Financial Service Providers and Measuring Performance
- Session 4 - Real-World Case Study
