LSESU Democracy Review
We know there are aspects of LSE Students’ Union’s (LSESU) democratic set up that don’t currently work. One example of this is the fact that despite postgraduate students comprising the majority of LSE students, most elected positions end up being routinely filled by undergraduates.
Similarly, Overseas and EU fee status students also make up the majority of the student population, and yet they too are significantly underrepresented in most of our positions.
These are but two of the most obvious examples of how the system isn’t quite working for our students. For this reason, we have decided to undertake a review of our democratic structures in the pursuit of an answer to one simple question:
What democratic model would most effectively meet the needs of LSE students?
We are therefore delighted to announce that from Friday 8 October 2021 we will be inviting bids from consultants who believe they will be able to support us in our efforts to deliver a high-quality democracy review before the end of this academic year.
The deadline for submitting a bid is 9am on Monday 15 November 2021, with us planning to announce the successful consultant later that month.
