NAB.2.06
Join us for a screening of "Another News Story," a documentary tracking refugees' journey from the Greek island of Lesbos across Europe at the height of media scrutiny in the summer 2015. Director Orban Wallace looks not only at the many uncertainties faced by refugees making this perilous trek, but at the storytelling surrounding them. How do journalists approach the complex, varied, and often painful experiences they are covering? Can they remain objective? And how do they construct a "news story," balancing sensationalism while portraying the lives of real people?
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the role of journalism in shaping public perceptions of refugees.
We are excited to welcome LSE's Professor Nick Long, Professor Myria Georgiou, an a representative from On Road Media.
