I’m extremely passionate about expanding financial security for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds, because let’s be real, university is expensive and the support system isn’t providing what it needs to offer. As someone who’s done both accommodation and commuting, I can confirm: commuting is the struggle no one talks about. The travel costs? Astronomical. Given this, I want to push for actual financial help for commuters!!
Also, I want to make guarantor services more accessible. Navigating housing when you don’t have someone who can act as a guarantor can be super overwhelming, and no one should be left in the dark or excluded from housing because of that.
On a bigger level: LSE, it’s time to divest. Other unis have made the pledge, and it’s embarrassing that we haven’t followed through yet. Let’s actually live up to our values.
And finally, I’m planning to host a podcast along with the other PTO’s to uplift and empower students from a multitude of backgrounds - think good vibes, honest chats, and no filter. I also want to continue Zoë’s incredible work with the Working Class Collective and help it grow into an even more supportive space!
