The Philosophy of Neurodiversity

Tuesday 29 March 2022
2pm - 3:30pm
Online

Come start the discussion: ‘What is philosophy of neurodiversity?’.

The neurodiversity movement, being in its nascency, has much to figure out - what does it stand for, what does its key terminology really mean, and how do we conceptualise its very core essence: ‘the intrinsic neurodivergency of humanity’

Join the event, with the following speakers:

  • Elselijn Kingma, KCL Philosopher of medicine

  • Ella Whiteley, LSE Philosopher of invisible labour and epistemic injustice

  • Jonathan Birch, LSE Philosopher of biology

  • Ceciley Whiteley, LSE Philosopher of depression and mind

  • Stewart Rapley, author of: ‘autistic thinking in the life of the church’

  • Sam Crutcher, LSESU Neurodivergent Officer

The first half will be a highly-interactive panel discussion between the speakers and audience members. Audience members are invited to engage as little or as much as they wish with the panelists! The second half will put the audience members into break-out rooms, where each room will debate a related topic; each room then returns to the main room to conclude the event by reporting back on their discussions to the group.

At LSE, we don’t just strive to know the causes of things; we want to help pioneer these explorations! Come pioneer the philosophy of neurodiversity with us
