AU Carol

AU Carol has long held its title as the best event of the year, and this year will be no different.

AU Carol

Friday 07 December 2018 10:00 - 23:59

The Venue, Saw Swee Hock

Hello friends, it's been a long Michaelmas Term. The days are getting shorter, the nights longer and colder, and it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel from your seat in the library.

But wait no longer.

On the 7th of December, LSE AU will again be performing its duty to keep student satisfaction out of the minus figures. For second and third years, this day needs no introduction. Christmas is expensive, New Years oft disappointing, but Carol will never let you down.

After a breakfast of champions at Wetherspoons, the day will start at 10am sharp for The Saucy Memorial Vigil in the Venue, where we will pay our respects to our fallen nemesis. After more fun is had in 4 hours than was had in several years of Saucy Fridays (big up lowercase events), we will venture on a Pilgrimage to Züba for 2pm, to discover the true meaning of the holiday season - amity, unity, and mirth. After visiting hours at the Zoo it's feeding time, as well as a time for spiritual reflection. Remove your costumes, reline your stomachs, and head over to Nachos for a brie and camembert-y finale to this wondrous day.

Tickets are £12 and will be on general release at 1pm on Monday 26th November. A committee release will be at 12pm. You will be able to collect your wristbands from the Arc from Monday 3rd-Thursday 6th. Unlike Lyft, tickets will sell out, so set your alarms, mark your calendars, give your mum your LSESU log in details, but do not miss the release.

On the day of Carol - Costumes on Campus
You are not allowed to wear your outfits to your lecture/seminars as you may be turned away.

If you wristband is not collected by 4pm on Thursday 6th you will no longer be able to collect your ticket and the place will be resold.

What should I expect when I arrive?

We want to get you into the event and enjoying yourself as quickly as possible, but we do have to go through various checks to comply with our license. You may have to queue for up to 1 hour if everyone arrives at the same time.

  1. You will need to queue (within a barrier) in a system around the Saw Swee Hock building
  2. You will be moved forward into different zones in varying sized groups depending on how busy the front of the queue is.
  3. You will be asked to show your student ID and your wristband whilst in the queue.
  4. As you get nearer the front door, if you have a bag this will be searched.
  5. Everyone will go through a metal detector. If the detector goes off you will be asked to step aside, you will then have an additional pat down and a security wand will be passed over you.
  6. Finally your main ID will be scanned into an E-system and this can be a little slow.

You can expect our security team to be courteous and professional with a zero tolerance approach to drugs, evidence of excess alcohol consumption and any inappropriate behaviour at any point in the queue. You may see people being removed from the queue for these reasons.

If the queue gets very busy at any point you may find Security or the Venue Manager requests that entry procedures are slowed down to ensure everyone gets in safely. Our advice is to come as early as possible to avoid the queue and have your ticket and ID ready.

Feeling unwell in the queue?

If you feel unwell at any point please alert the Security team who will help you exit the queue and to a place where you can be assisted.

No longer wish to attend?

We don’t refund tickets, but you can pass your ticket onto a friend as our system will log each barcode as entered
