Please work your way through the steps below, to ensure your group gets off to the best start for the 2026/27 academic year!

Tasks to Complete:

Before 31st July

Complete the Admin Submission Form, which includes your 2026/27 membership price, your updated Constitution, and confirmation that your Core Committee agree to the Student Group Agreement.

One required per group.

From 1st August

New committees officially take position!

  • Your 2026/27 memberships will start going on sale (once you’ve confirmed your membership fee via the admin process above), so you can purchase them yourselves.
  • The compulsory Moodle Modules will be released, which you’ll need to complete before you can begin planning activity:
    • LSESU Student Leader Training (Societies)
    • Room Bookings Training

THEN, Once you've done those:

1. Requesting Admin Rights

  • All committee members should purchase 2026/27 membership, available from 1st August onwards on your Club or Society Webpage
  • Once you’ve submitted the Admin Submission Form, completed the Moodle Modules and purchased membership, you can request Admin Rights, by emailing su.societies@lse.ac.uk
  • You’ll then have access to your admin dashboard and the Student Group Expenses app.

2. Gaining 'Active' Status

  • We'll be keeping track of training completion. Once all core committee members have completed the Moodle Modules and purchased membership, we’ll officially set your society as ‘active’.
  • You’ll then be eligible to begin submitting Event and Trip Forms!

Pushing Membership Sales

  • All groups are required to have a minimum of 20 members by 31st October 2026 (10 members for Faith and National/Cultural Groups).
  • Any groups who don't meet these thresholds will be referred to the Activities and Communities Officer, and may be considered for disaffiliation.
  • So, please advertise the sales of your memberships, as these are really important. Membership needs to be purchased through your Club or Society's LSESU webpage.
  • Purchasing membership is essential to ensure your members are covered by the SU's insurance, receive any relevant communications, and are eligible to run and vote in any future elections, so please ensure anyone who attends your activities purchases membership before this date.

Deadlines for Flagships / Trip Forms

  • If your group plans to run a large event, flagship or trip in 2026/27, please ensure the initial form is submitted by the dates below:
    • AT: 1st September 26
    • WT: 31st October 26
    • ST: 28th February 27
  • We know it’s early days, so the forms can be brief at this stage! Please only submit after the 1st August, when next year’s Event and Trip Forms go live.
  • Once all forms have been received after the respective dates, you will receive an email from your staff lead, who will support you through the planning of the event or trip.

Other useful steps to complete at your own pace, before term starts in September:

  • Familiarise yourself with the Committee Hub website, which has lots of information about running your group. This includes any forms you may need, information on SU processes and much more! We’ll be making ongoing updates and improvements to our Committee Hub over the Summer.

  • Please check you have access to your Club or Society’s email account that the SU has set up for you, as we send important updates to this. Please use this account for all of your group’s email communications and online storage. This ensures GDPR guidelines are met, and next year’s committee have access to all of the information and documents they need.

  • Ensure you are receiving the Club and Socs Newsletter to your personal LSE email. These are sent weekly during term time, and fortnightly during vacation. These newsletters contain essential information throughout the year. You will begin receiving these over the Summer. If you aren’t receiving these emails, please let us know!

  • We will ask the existing committee members of your group to complete a Handover Document. This will contain useful information about your individual group’s finances, passwords and activities, along with any general advice from your predecessors. If you would like to request a copy (after August 1st), please email su.societies@lse.ac.uk.

If you have any questions about the different steps above, please email su.societies@lse.ac.uk (Societies) or su.sport@lse.ac.uk (Clubs) and our team will be happy to help!
