Critical Contemporary Culture Journal Launch

Come to the launch of issue IV 'Play' of Critical Contemporary Culture Journal Thursday 4th June 6.30 - 9.00 pm @waterside contemporary

Thursday 04 June 2015
6:30pm - 9pm
Waterside Contemporary, 2 Clunbury St, London, N1 6TT

Critical Contemporary Culture aims to bring together academic discussion from across the social sciences, humanities and cultural studies with art and cultural practice. Our vision is to create an open and experimental space where dialogue across practice and theory on current and on-going sociocultural matters can occur.

This issue reflects upon PLAY as a complex and ambiguously productive category, central to subversion as much as to the maintenance of hegemony. We asked contributors to consider the performance of play as a collision of the ludic and the horror in multiply contested and contextualised situations of contemporary life: as something spatialised, politicised, affective and embodied.

Participating artists, cultural practitioners and academics will join in conversation about the theme of PLAY and how its relates to their practice.

Drinks and light refreshments will be served.
