LSESU Active LifeStyle gives you opportunities to play sport and get involved in physical activity during your time at LSE.

From drop-in sessions, beginner courses, inter-hall leagues and one-off events, we offer a wide range of activities for you to create your own active life, take some time out from the books and de-stress. Being active even just for 30 minutes a day has shown to have a positive impact on your physical and mental wellbeing, so why not take a break and get involved!

Whether you're looking for something competitive or recreational, something one-off or regular, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Activities take place throughout the academic year, and are based on campus or at venues across central London. Sport England

LSE Students' Union is one of 60 organisations across the UK to be awarded funding from Sport England through the University Sport Activation Fund. The funding, which is for 3 years from 2014-17, will allow the Students' Union to develop the LSESU Active LifeStyle programme.

How to Get Invovled

Simply check out what Active LifeStyle sessions are scheduled, turn up and get active! For ticketed events, please book and pay for your place at the session via the LSESU What's On calendar

Prices and Membership

Prices range depending on the activity; some activities are completely free, while others may have a minor cost attached. You will need to sign up and pay for regular leagues and classes, with prices ranging from £1 to £10.

Active LifeStyle Sessions

Active LifeStyle runs belly dancing classes every Friday, from 12–1pm in the Old Gym. Sessions are led by Yasmin from the Fleur Estelle Dance School. Equipment is provided and all levels are welcome.

In association with British Fencing, Active LifeStyle runs a two-hour fencing sessions. The training takes place every Wednesday, 7–8:30pm, in the Badminton Court, Old Building. All levels are welcome. Equipment is provided.

Free 5-a-Side football sessions takes place every other Friday 6-8pm, starting on the 7th October 2016. Balls will be provided. If you want to help run the sessions please get in touch!

 

We are looking for some volunteers to help run the sessions, so if your interested please get involved.

Active LifeStyle provides Pilates sessions every Monday, 2–3pm in the LSESU Exercise Studio, 6th Floor, Saw Swee Hock Student Centre. The sessions are free and are open for all levels. Mats are provided, but please make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing.

Swimming lessons take place every Tuesday, 8:00–9:00pm, for £1 a session. We have two lanes at St Pancras Swimming Pool with a swimming instructor.

 

Please be at the poolside for 8:00pm. If you tell the Security Attendant that you are with LSE, they will let you through the barriers. Please wear suitable clothing, including goggles and a swimming cap.

POP Pilates is an incredible fusion of ab-chiseling and total body defining moves choreographed to your favourite top 40 hits. This intense, mat-based workout will challenge you to rhythmically flow from one exercise to the next, developing a strong core while leaving no muscle untouched. This format takes classical Pilates to the next level so see you on the mat on Wednesdays!

 

Sessions are every Wednesday from 11am-noon in the LSESU Exercise Studio, 6th Floor, Saw Swee Hock Student Centre. The sessions are free and are open for all levels. Mats are provided, but please make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing.

Yoga (PhD Students)

PhD Vinyasa style yoga takes place every Tuesday (3–4pm) and Thursday (2-3pm) in the LSESU Exercise Studio on the 6th Floor, Saw Swee Hock Student Centre. The sessions are free and are open to for all levels. Mats are provided, but please make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing.

Zumba classes for all students take place every Monday 11-12pm and Friday 3–4pm in the LSESU Exercise Studio on the 6th Floor, Saw Swee Hock Student Centre. The classes are open for all levels and no experience is required.

LED Sabre classes take place every Wednesday, 11:30am–1pm in the Badminton Court in the Old Building. The classes are open for all levels and no experience is required.

Active LifeStyle, in association with the LSE Tennis Club, run tennis sessions for all levels at Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Sessions are as below:

Wednesdays: 12-1pm (Beginners session with a Qualified Tennis Coach) 2-4pm (Intermediate and Advanced Session) Saturdays:11-1pm (All Abilities Welcome)

 

LSE Social Tennis will provide racquets and balls, so no equipment needed. Please wear sports clothing and trainers.

Active LifeStyle, in association with the LSE Badminton Club, run Badminton sessions for all levels at Finsbury Leisure Centre. Sessions are every Saturday from 16:00 to 18:00
