TASTEr Session

At the start of every term we give students the chance to attend free taster sessions.

Give It A Go

Give It A Go is all about exploring LSESU’s amazing, student-led sports clubs, societies and the media group societies. At the start of every term we give students (non-members) the chance to attend free taster sessions with some of our best clubs and societies to see what they’re really like without having to pay membership to join.

These different activities will fall under 5 different themes: Get Active, Learn A Skill, Relax and Socialise, Be Creative, and Share Your Culture, so you will get a flavour of what to expect from the Give It A Go session before you go!

TASTEr Session

Sunday 09 October 2016

10am - 4pm

Meet at the entrance to the Students' Union Building

Feel like you could put your culinary creativity to some use? Want to actively help out your local community whilst fighting against food waste? Fancy meeting people from all over London? Well, why not try LSESU FoodCycle’s  ‘Give It A Go’  taster session! Our LSESU FoodCycle society not only raises awareness about food waste but also seeks out volunteers to cook at our hub at King’s Cross every Sunday, feeding and supporting people living with HIV. The whole session will run from 10am to 4pm including cooking for and then serving our guest

Come join your fellow LSE students to cook up a delicious feast from intercepted food from 10am-2pm. We meet outside at LSE SawSweeHock Centre around 10am and will continue onwards to Angel to collect food donations from Waitrose and the local market.  It is a great chance to explore the bustling city markets and meet passionately proactive people, not only from LSE, but from the local community as well.

After the ingredients are collected, we head up to the hub at King’s Cross and the team create a 3-course meal for our guests. It is easier than you would think - having a wide range of donations and plenty of stock to work with, and guidance by a well experienced team leader – and it’s a lot of fun too! And if you don’t fancy cooking, come help to serve and host our guests from 12:45-4pm.

So why not ‘Give It A Go!’ FoodCycle gives you a fantastic opportunity to be creative, sociable and volunteer for a happier, healthier community!
