Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art which combines elements of self-defence, acrobatics, music, dance and rituals in an elegant and magnetic way. Originating among slaves, Capoeira games are played as a disguise of their practicing of fight moves. If you're interested, here's an excellent article about Capoeira.
The Capoeira Association Aprendendo Angola has been running regular Capoeira training sessions at the LSE since 2007. Our group is known for being very open and friendly; we welcome anyone who is interested in exploring and researching this art form with us, from complete beginners to experienced students, across all age groups. We see Capoeira not only as a form of exercise or skills training but as an opportunity to create communities of people with a common passion for Afro-Brazilian music, history, fight and dance.
