CAMILLE BOU

A connected and heard postgraduate research student community

ABOUT ME

I’m Camille, a 3rd year PhD student in the Department of Health Policy. I am running to be your Postgraduate Research Student (PRS) Officer, and Academic Board Representative. Now that we’re back on campus, I want to focus on connecting our PRS community across Departments. I also want to ensure our voices are heard at the governance-level, so we get the support we need to complete our research.

EXPERIENCE

  • Cohort SSLC (2019-2021), improving my Department’s PhD seminars from student feedback. Awarded the LSESU Award for Excellent Academic Representation.
  • Equity Assessor for the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Office, reviewing LSE policies, services, and functions (2019-Present).
  • VP of the Health Society during my MSc, organising trips and events (2018-2019).

ACTION POINTS

  • Set up “randomised coffee trials” scheme to trigger 1-on-1s between PhD students across Departments
  • Collaborate with the PhD Academy to make better use of our library space, to spark innovative, interdisciplinary research or project ideas between PhD students as per the original purpose of the PhD Academy
  • Support PhD students applying for funding extensions due to COVID-19 disruptions
  • Work with GTA Rep to improve GTA support and working conditions
